TOTAL & PERMANENT FAQ'S

WHY DOES SOMEONE WIN THEIR CASE AND RECEIVE TOTAL & PERMANENT?

T&P Disability is awarded to someone who is deemed totally and permanently disabled through thorough clinical, psychiatric and medical documentation. These records are then reviewed in a neutral physician evaluation that is set up through the NFLPB office.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I AM ELIGIBLE FOR TOTAL & PERMANENT DISABILITY?

Generally speaking, to be eligible for T&P, most players will be required to have three (3) credited seasons in the NFL. However, there can be exceptions so do not hesitate to call and speak to one of our team members about your situation.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT CATEGORIES OF T&P AND HOW MUCH DO THEY PAY?

There are four (4) categories a player can qualify for in their T&P Disability case. These amounts will be received monthly upon winning your case and will remain in effect until you begin receiving your pension or are no longer totally and permanently disabled. They are as follows:

Active Football: $22,084/mo.​

Active Non-Football: $13,750/mo.

Inactive A: $11,250/mo.

Inactive B: $5,000/mo.

HOW DO I KNOW WHICH CATEGORY I WILL FALL UNDER?

LINE OF DUTY FAQ'S

WHY DOES SOMEONE RECEIVE LINE OF DUTY DISABILITY?
-
For eligible players, LOD is awarded to those who have sustained substantial injuries as a result of playing in the NFL. These determinations are made using an Orthopedic Impairment Point System. To be awarded LOD, a players injuries must equate to a total of nine (9) points.

WHEN CAN I APPLY FOR LOD?
-
If you have four (4) or fewer Credited Seasons, your application must be received within 48 months of the date you are no longer an Active Player
-
If you have 5 (5) or more Credited Seasons, your deadline is the number of years after you are an Active Player that is equal to your number of Credited Seasons.

HOW MUCH DOES LOD PAY IF APPROVED?

Line of Duty Disability payments are monthly and generally last for 90 months (7½ years). The current minimum monthly payment is at least $4,500/mo.
